Let’s talk beets, those fabulous little red things that stain everything they touch haha. Why do I love beats so much? Let me tell you. Beets are known to lower blood pressure (study from queens university – London) One glass of beet juice daily is more effective at lowering blood pressure than medication! Adding a cup of beet juice or more beets in general to your diet could help prevent angina, high blood pressure and heart disease. Let’s talk endurance – England’s university of Exeter study found eating foods high in naturally occurring nitrates, like beets, improved endurance. Naturally occurring nitrates have been shown to widen blood vessels and allow more oxygen-rich blood to travel to the heart. Anti – inflammatory – Raw beets, not cooked, contain betaine, a natural anti-inflammatory. This helps prevent aging and disease. Anti-cancer effects – Beets contain a phytonutrient called proanthocyanidin. When you realize you have issues such as bad digestion, skin irritations, bloating etc you likely want to know why.
